Want to learn how to use your digital camera?

Sally specializes in demystifying technical issues and conveying the subject matter in easy to understand, plain language. Her classes are taught throughout the Hudson Valley region. Any of the classes can be customized to meet your specific requirements.

These classes are perfect for libraries, schools, community centers, senior centers, businesses, and real estate offices. Sally also offers group and private instruction as well.

Digital Photographers Introduction to Photoshop or Photoshop Elements

This program is for the photo enthusiast interested in learning how to improve and enhance their photos using their computer. It is geared for the individual with little or no experience with either computers or software.

You will gain an understanding as to what you can accomplish using photo editing software and how to get started. You will take with you practical skills you can immediately put to use.

The live demonstration begins with the tool bar. What the symbols mean and the effect they will have on your photo. Working with palates, such as the history palate, will be discussed. With this basic knowledge we can begin to edit and enhance photos.

Adjusting contrast and brightness, cropping, red eye removal, removing dust, changing backgrounds, converting a color image to b & w, and sizing for email, will be demonstrated.

With this basic information, you will be on your way to creating images that you will be eager to show off.  

Digital Photographers Intermediate Guide to Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements

This program is for the photo enthusiast who has some experience working with photo editing software or who has taken the introductory class to using photo editing software.

This program expands on the introductory class by incorporating the use of layers, such as adjustment layers, editing perspective, correcting exposure, adding text, and working with files to allow you to save settings and layers intact for future editing.

As your knowledge increases your creativity will expand. You will enjoy being able to apply what you have learned to creating special and unique photos.

(Note: The introductory and intermediate photo editing classes can be presented using either Photoshop Elements, Photoshop 7, or Photoshop CS3.)

● Introduction to Digital Photography

This program will explain basic digital terminology and demystify the menus of a digital camera. The programs of the camera will also be discussed and their effect on the exposure of the photo.

Information on metering to ensure proper exposure will be presented as well as tips on composition to enhance the overall look of the photo.

Participants will leave this class with a better understanding of their digital camera and its capabilities.

The program allows time for questions. Participants are encouraged to bring their cameras with a charged battery. 

● Intermediate Digital Photography

This program expands on the introduction to digital photography. The menus are explored in greater depth. Information designed to aid in achieving the best digital file possible will be discussed. Different perspectives and ideas on composition will be presented.

Digital manipulation will be discussed. A taste of using filters to change the look of the photo will be presented. Creative ideas will be explored.

The program allows time for questions. Participants are encouraged to bring their cameras with a charged battery.

● Taking Great Vacation Photos With Your Digital Camera

There is no better way to remember your vacation than by having great photos to look at and show to friends and relatives. This class will explain how to take wonderful photos of your trip, outdoors as well as inside. Learn how to make each picture interesting and exciting while you create a photographic journal of your vacation.

This program will cover basic digital terminology that pertains to the settings of the digital camera to ensure the best quality file is captured. The menus of the camera, as well as the programs will be discussed.

How to compose the photo to record the trip as well as enhancing the photo, will be included in the discussion. I will help you save these memories for a lifetime.

The program allows time for questions. Participants are encouraged to bring their cameras with a charged battery. 

● Nature Photography

So many people love to take pictures of nature. Whether it be birds, animals, trees, flowers, landscapes, the ocean, landscapes or even animals at the zoo. This class will show you how to take the best possible photos.

You will learn the keys to composition for outdoors, lighting, sun, shade, and cloud conditions. I will also discuss the effective use of your zoom and wide angle settings.

This program will cover basic digital terminology that pertains to the settings of the digital camera to ensure the best quality file is captured. The menus of the camera, as well as the programs will be discussed.

How to compose the photo to record your image, as well as enhancing the photo, will be included in the discussion. I will help you save these memories for a lifetime.

● Hands-on Interactive Digital Photography Workshop

Participants bring their own cameras and receive hands on experience taking pictures and working with settings on their cameras. You will receive personal assistance with getting the most out of your own specific camera.

This program is entirely interactive and is limited to 10 participants so that each person can receive individual attention. Students may also bring their laptop computers to download and adjust their photos.
